Stage-exit guidance
LWC components for opportunity stage-exit guidance on Salesforce record pages.
Problem
Users moving an opportunity between stages need to know what is expected at that point. Guidance buried in documents is easy to miss; it works better inside the record page.
My contribution
- Built LWC components for opportunity stage-exit guidance on record pages.
- Also built service-request screens and product information components on record pages.
Design
A synthetic reconstruction of the general pattern, not employer code.
- Read current stage and record context
- Look up stage guidance from configuration
- Check which criteria are met
- Render checklist with clear next steps
- Guidance text and criteria are configuration, so wording can be updated by the business.
- The component is keyboard-navigable and announces status changes to assistive technology.
Tradeoffs
| Choice | Benefit | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Guidance, not hard blocking | Keeps users in flow | Compliance rules still need validation rules |
| Configurable content | Business edits without code | Content can drift without an owner |
| Native LWC | Fits the record page and platform security | Limited to what the platform exposes |
Demonstrated behavior
